How to switch to another PHP version?
Within hosting.fr web hosting packages, you can switch between different PHP versions. All PHP versions that continue to receive regular security updates from PHP developers are free. Older versions, for which the official support period has expired and for which no security updates are expected, can be booked as part of PHP Extended Support, where we apply corresponding security updates to the extent possible.
It should also be considered that your CMS or the plugins used may not be compatible with another/new PHP version. It is therefore advisable to inform yourself here before making a change.
Currently, the available PHP versions are 5.6, 7.0 to 7.4 as well as 8.0 to 8.4. In the client interface, you can change the PHP version as follows:
- Select “Products” from the left menu.
- In the “Products” menu, select the “Web hosting” sub-item.
- Under the domain to modify, select “Show details”. If you manage a large number of domains, you may need to click “Show all” first to get a complete overview of your domains.

- Navigate to “PHP Options” and select “Edit”.

- In the “PHP Version” field, select the desired version from the dropdown menu, then confirm with “Save”.

If you manage multiple domains within the same web space, these adjustments must be made separately for each domain. It is therefore quite possible to run one domain under PHP 5.6 and another under PHP 7.1, for example.
