I can no longer send emails from my mailbox!

It is essential to distinguish between sending emails via the Web space/PHP mail(), such as for order confirmations, contact forms, etc., and sending emails via a POP3/IMAP or Exchange mailbox. Different reasons can explain why emails can no longer be sent. To reduce sending issues via your Web space/PHP mail(), please refer to the support article “I can no longer send emails from my Web space!”.

Please note that both forms of email sending are subject to server-side limits to prevent spam and keep the load on our infrastructure within acceptable limits.

In principle, our shared web hosting packages are not designed for intensive resource use, such as sending newsletters. If you regularly manage long email lists, it might be wise to consider using your own mail server. We would be happy to give you more advice on this. Just contact us at support@hosting.fr.

Among the reasons that can explain the lack of email sending via your POP3/IMAP or Exchange mailbox are:

  • You are trying to send more emails than the server-side limit allows.
  • Your email client configuration is incorrect, preventing access to the SMTP server.
  • You are a Telekom customer and use a Speedport router. (For more information on this topic, you can refer to the support article regarding Speedport routers.)
  • Your network settings or local security software prevent email sending, or your emails encounter a timeout during upload due to large attachments.
  • Your mailbox has been hacked and has been blocked for sending for security reasons, to prevent spam sending.

If our server refuses to send an email via POP3/IMAP or Exchange, the sender always receives an error message. This generally already gives indications of the exact cause of the email rejection. In case of doubts, please contact hosting.fr support at support@hosting.fr by providing the exact error message for advice on how to proceed.
