How to configure an email account in Thunderbird?
- Start Thunderbird.
- In the “Set up account” item, select the “Email” option.

- Enter your complete email address, the associated password, and the desired sender name in the corresponding fields, then select “Continue”.

- Thunderbird now performs a standard test with the most common email mailbox settings. This usually fails with hosting.fr mailboxes. Therefore choose “Configure manually” at this point.

- Configure the settings according to your preferred usage:

For IMAP/POP3 and SMTP, use the same server name. This is
mail.routing.net.
Depending on how you use your mailbox (IMAP or POP3) and the desired encryption, the ports to configure in your email program are:
| Protocol | Encryption | Port |
|---|---|---|
| IMAP | SSL/TLS (recommended) | 993 |
| IMAP | STARTTLS | 143 |
| IMAP | none (not recommended) | 143 |
| POP3 | SSL/TLS (recommended) | 995 |
| POP3 | STARTTLS | 110 |
| POP3 | none (not recommended) | 110 |
| SMTP | STARTTLS (recommended) | 587 |
| SMTP | SSL/TLS | 465 |
| SMTP | none (not recommended) | 25 |
