My inbox is full! What should I do now?
The inboxes used at hosting.fr are checked every 24 hours for their storage space occupation. If this daily measure reveals that the reserved storage space is (overloaded), the account holder first receives an automated message, and the affected inbox is marked as “limited” in the client interface. Despite this “limited” label, an additional surplus of up to 10% within the tolerable framework is still possible before incoming emails are rejected by our servers as undeliverable. Of course, it is advisable to act quickly to avoid any data loss or undeliverable emails.
In case of inbox overload, you can either expand your reserved storage space for a fee or delete emails you no longer need to free up space.
Important: When deleting emails, please also check the “Spam” and “Sent” folders and empty the “Trash” folder after successfully deleting unwanted emails, as these directories are also counted in the occupied storage space.
Inboxes where an overload has been detected are checked again by us every hour for their current storage space occupation and are then restored accordingly. It may therefore take up to an hour after deleting unnecessary data before the updated storage space occupation is reflected in the client interface.
We recommend logging into webmail to clean your inbox, as common email programs such as Outlook may have synchronization issues with large inboxes, especially in connection with corporate networks or slow internet connections. You can access webmail at https://webmail.routing.net. Use the credentials of the inbox you want to clean to log in.
To get an overview of the occupied storage space in webmail, click on the gear icon at the bottom left after logging in.

Select “Manage folders”.

You will access an overview of your created folders in the inbox. First, make sure that all folders are “subscribed” and displayed in your email program: next to each folder in the central overview, a checkmark must appear in the selection box on the right, as unsubscribed folders are not synchronized with the email program and their content is not displayed, while still occupying space in the inbox.
You can now click on each folder individually and see additional details about the directory on the right, including the number of emails it contains. By clicking on “Show folder size”, you can see how much data the folder occupies. With this function, it is easy to find hidden space waste.

In some cases, for example, for professionally used accounts, it may not be possible to delete enough emails to free up enough space in the long term. It is then advisable to increase the inbox storage space for a fee. You can do this in the hosting.fr client interface under https://secure.hosting.fr:
- Select “Products” in the menu on the left.
- In the “Products” menu, select the “E-mail” sub-item.

- Under the inbox you want to expand, click on the “Show details” link. (If you use many inboxes, you may first need to click “Show all” to get a complete overview of your email addresses.)

- In the “Inbox storage space” section, click “Edit”.

- With the “+” and “-” symbols, you can now adjust the storage space as you wish.
In general, increasing the storage space incurs costs. These will be directly displayed to you in the client interface. During the first billing, these costs may be lower, as the duration of the additional product is calculated pro rata to the remaining duration of the inbox.

- Confirm the paid reservation by checking the corresponding box in the dialog box, and finally upgrade the inbox by clicking the “Save” button.

After extending or cleaning an overloaded inbox, it may take up to an hour before emails are accepted again in your inbox.
