What is Exchange? What are the differences with POP3/IMAP mailboxes?

Exchange is a professional email product developed by Microsoft. In addition to classic email traffic, Exchange also allows the management of contacts, calendars, and tasks. Moreover, Exchange supports the synchronization of mobile clients via the ActiveSync protocol.

Please note that to use all Exchange features, an email client with appropriate support (e.g., Outlook or OWA) must be used.

The use of webmail is also possible with Exchange mailboxes. However, please note that some advanced Exchange features, such as the calendar, are not available.
