Can I create a mailbox for a domain managed by another host/in another account?
It is possible to create an email address for a domain whose DNS settings are not managed in the same account. For this, a DNS record in TXT format must be defined in the domain’s DNS zone to legitimize the operation.
This can concern different situations:
- The domain is managed by another host, but your web hosting is with hosting.fr.
- The domain is managed by hosting.fr, but you use external name servers for DNS management.
- The domain is managed by hosting.fr, but in another customer account/sub-account.
The TXT record necessary for verification will be displayed directly in the client interface when creating a new email address. This looks like this for example:

Once you have added the necessary record in the DNS zone, you can proceed normally with creating a mailbox for the domain. This verification only needs to be performed once per domain, not for each mailbox.
Alternatively, it is also possible to transfer the domain from the external provider to your hosting.fr customer account or to use hosting.fr name servers instead of external name servers. In these cases, verification via a DNS record is no longer necessary.
