What are Domain Handles / Domain Contacts? What should I enter?
A Domain Handle or Domain Contact is a record associated with a domain that serves to contact the responsible party for the relevant sector. This record always includes the complete contact details of a person or organization for the assigned sector.
The different types of Domain Handles are distinguished by “Owner-C” (Owner Contact), “Admin-C” (Administrative Contact), “Tech-C” (Technical Contact), and “Zone-C” (Contact for name server/DNS management). This data must always be kept up to date, as you, as the domain holder or administrative contact, may need to be contacted to ensure the proper functioning of your domain.
You can manage and modify domain contacts in the hosting.fr client portal as follows:
- Select the “Products” item in the left menu.
- In the “Products” menu, select the sub-item “Domains”.
- In the “Other Options” section, select the “Contacts” item.

- In the overview of your domain contacts, select under the contact you want to modify the item “Show details”.

- Select “Edit” to edit the domain contact.

- If you want to create a new contact, select the “Create a Contact” item in the overview of domain contacts.

- Fill in the fields with the appropriate contact details and save the contact. For most domain extensions, the information in the “General Data” section is sufficient. However, for some domain extensions, additional information in the “Additional General Information” section may be required, such as an ID card number. If you have any doubts about the information required for the desired domain extension, please contact hosting.fr support at support@hosting.fr.

Please note: Currently, it is not possible to delete domain contacts once created. If you no longer wish to use a contact, modify it instead and activate the “Hide Contact” option in the “General Data” section. The contact will then no longer be offered when registering a new domain or modifying the contacts of an existing domain.
