Can I create and manage sub-accounts?
If you as a webmaster or reseller manage hosting.fr products for your clients, you may want to offer them their own management access without having to register a separate customer account for each client. This can be easily achieved through sub-accounts of your account with their own login ID, where you can then create the appropriate products. If you use a hosting.fr server, you also have the option to create web spaces or email boxes directly in the client’s sub-account from your server quota.
The billing of products in the sub-account is always addressed to the reseller/main account, and the sub-accounts do not receive separate billing. This can also be an advantage over separate customer accounts, as you can bill your services to your clients according to your own calculation.
Additionally, white-label URLs are also available for sub-accounts, in which the hosting.fr brand does not appear.
Creating new sub-accounts
- Select the “Reseller” item in the menu on the left.
- Access the sub-item “Sub-accounts” and choose “Create a new sub-account”.

- In the form, you will now enter the client’s data. The mandatory fields here are the sub-account name and a client type. Here you choose between business clients and end clients. The identification or assignment of an internal client number is optional. All information can be changed later.

- In the “Address” section, you can enter your client’s contact details. This information is optional but can help you manage your client data.

- In the “Contact details” section, you can now enter the client’s contact details. This information is also optional.

- In the “Notification settings” section, you can define whether the sub-account or you will receive notifications in case of product issues, etc.
- “Readable email” : By activating this slider, the sub-account will receive notifications at the chosen login address, for example, in case of email box blocking.
- “Receive sub-account notifications?” : By activating this slider, you as the main account will receive a copy of the notification at the contact email address registered for you.
- The newsletter slider is not relevant for sub-accounts and has no impact.
- Event email addresses: Here, your client’s address should be registered, to which notifications about product disruptions should be sent.
- “Readable email” : By activating this slider, the sub-account will receive notifications at the chosen login address, for example, in case of email box blocking.

- In the “User data” section, you will now enter your client’s future login credentials:
- “Name” : The name that will be displayed to your client after login.
- “Email” : The email address that corresponds to the username for login. This can only be assigned once as a username, so you cannot create multiple sub-accounts with the same login address.
- “Password” : The password for accessing the client portal. Here, you can either set a password yourself or generate one via the lock icon on the right.
- “Repeat password” : Repeat the chosen or generated password.
- “Language selection” : Here, you can choose the language in which the sub-account will be navigated in the client portal. Currently, German and English are available.
- “Name” : The name that will be displayed to your client after login.

- In the next section, you can individualize the rights that should be granted to the sub-account for management. Please note: You can only grant a sub-account permissions that your own account also possesses.
If the sub-account is to receive all rights for a management section, check the box in front of the respective section. If you want to individualize the rights, click on the small arrow to the right of the respective section.

- Here you see an example of the “Account service” section how you can individualize the rights management for sub-accounts. We fundamentally recommend always activating the “View” right for the “My Account/Account” item, otherwise the sub-account will receive an error message when logging in.
Possible scenarios here would be, for example, that the client can manage the reserved email addresses themselves and change their passwords, but cannot create new boxes. The same is possible, for example, for DNS zone or domain management.
All permissions can be adjusted later at any time.

- Finally, you create the sub-account via the appropriate button.
Managing existing sub-accounts
- Select the “Reseller” item in the menu on the left.
- Access the sub-item “Sub-accounts” and choose “View all”.

- Under the corresponding sub-account, select “Show details”. You can now modify the desired data via the “Edit” button.
